During these difficult times, it may feel a bit overwhelming. Most families across the country have been told to shelter in place for at least a month at this point. While it may feel restraining and confining to stay indoors for so long, it’s important to remember that this is not just a house — it’s your home. Your sanctuary. This is where you will weather the brunt of this pandemic’s effects, and this is where you will be when the crisis passes. As you do your duty to flatten the curve and protect our healthcare system, there are many at-home activities you can do to pass the time! The website realtor.com has a newsletter that shares delightful at-home activities that you can partake in to pass the time! I’ll be highlighting some of my favorites.
Lighting
Since you will be indoors for quite some time, it may be a great time to consider replacing your lighting! I would recommend that you start with your living room lights. Repace older bulbs in your living room lamps with newer, more energy-efficient LED bulbs. LED (Light Emitting Diode) bulbs have a longer life and don’t give off as much heat as incandescent or fluorescent bulbs, meaning that they pose less of a hazard if touched.
While on the topic of lighting, another topic of note is that of lampshades! Take note of the size of the shades of your lights in your living room, and consider switching it out with a similarly-sized lampshade from another room. This is a wonderful, simple idea to give your living room a fresh, new look — breaking up the monotony!
